On the last Wednesday of February, students across Canada and in several other countries wear pink shirts to stand up against bullying! Pink Shirt Day was started by 2 high school students in Nova Scotia in 2007. See this Resources for Young People page to learn more.

VPL recognises that play is vital to children’s learning. To support learning we offer a range of high-quality play elements including toys, puzzles and games at every location.

Join us to be inspired and learn more about supporting children’s early literacy skills in this full-day professional development conference for early childhood educators, childcare providers and adults working with children in the community.

Children in Grades 2 - 4 are matched with a Big Buddy teen mentor to practice reading aloud and participate in activities such as storytelling and games that make literacy fun.

Reading Buddies is a program that pairs teens aged 13-18 with kids in grades 2 to 4 who would like to improve their reading. We are looking for role models who can connect with children and help them become engaged with the library and develop a love of reading and learning. Be a big buddy and earn community service hours! 

We all have stories to tell but how do you share them with the world? Our self-publishing workshops will empower you with the knowledge and skills to get started!

Enjoy connecting with other families and playing with LEGO in this small group, sensory-friendly, distraction-reduced program. Please contact the branch for more information or to register. For Grades K – 7.

Come hang out and stitch with us! Bring something you’d like to mend or embroider, or use our supplies to start a new project.
