Book a Computer

You can book a computer in-person or online.

Book Online Now

  Desktop computer stations are available for public use at all of our branches. Each computer has a CD/DVD optical drive as well as USB, headphone, and microphone ports. Headphones are not provided, so please bring your own if you plan on listening to audio.

Research stations are only available for searching the catalogue or accessing VPL’s electronic resources. Anyone can use them without needing to sign in.

Internet stations have fewer restrictions and can be used for browsing the web, checking email, writing resumes, watching movies and much more. You will need your VPL or Internet Access barcode number and library PIN in order to log on or book a time slot. Each internet station computer comes equipped with the following software:

Computers provide access to:

  • Firefox
  • Microsoft Edge
  • Chrome
  • Sigil (ebook creator)
  • Microsoft Office 2016 with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, OneNote.
  • LibreOffice 5.3: Writer, an open source alternative to Microsoft Office with Writer (Word processor), Calc (Spreadsheet), Impress (Presentation), Draw (Drawing), Math (Formula), Base (Database).
  • Notepad
  • Paint and Paint 3D
  • VLC Video Player
  • Magnifier

Computer stations with more advanced software are available in the Inspiration Labs for people to work on a variety of digital projects.

Computers at the Carnegie branch are not bookable.
