Newspaper Clippings Collection
Introduction
The Newspaper Clippings Collection is located on level 5 of Central Branch. It consists primarily of newspaper articles taken from the Vancouver Sun and the Vancouver Province, with some from the Globe & Mail and various local community newspapers.
The focus of the collection is on local and British Columbia issues. Coverage varies by division and newspaper, though the majority of files start in the 1960’s. Additions to the Newspaper Clippings Collection ceased June 30, 2002.

Use our searchable online index to find the headings used on individual folders of clippings as well as the specific file each headings belongs to. To access this database go to the library homepage at www.vpl.ca and, underneath the heading “Find Books, DVD’s & More” and click on “Newspapers, Articles, Encyclopedias & More.” Select the database from the alphabetical list, or click on “Newspapers & Mass Media.”

The Newspaper Clippings Collection is a great place to start your research, but it is only a selection of articles from the newspapers clipped. An extensive collection of newspapers on microfilm from Vancouver and Victoria dating back to the late 1800s. Some newspapers from other parts of Canada and the U.S. are also available. Ask Newspapers and Magazines or Special Collections staff. - Newspapers on the Web
