Vancouver Public Library Welcomes 2008 Board of Trustees
The 2008 Board includes four new members:
Loring Bohach, a project manager with egX Canada, has served as President of the Friends of the Vancouver Public Library and has been active in fundraising and advocacy initiatives on behalf of Vancouver’s library system.
Cindy Grauer, owner of management consulting company GR Strategies, is a member of the Board of Directors of the Writers Trust of Canada and Emergency Communications for Southwest British Columbia Inc. (Ecomm).
Lori Mathison was called to the Bar in British Columbia after graduating from McGill Law School with both LL.B. and B.C.L. degrees. She is also a Trustee to the CGA-BC Educational Foundation and a past councillor of the Architectural Institute of British Columbia.
Debbie Millward is manager of news research for The Vancouver Sun and The Province and an adjunct faculty member at UBC’s School of Library, Archival and Information Studies. She is a frequent participant in literacy and literary events and volunteers for the Vancouver Sun’s Raise-a-Reader campaign.
At the 2008 inaugural VPL Board of Trustees meeting held January 23, Joan Andersen was re-elected Chair and trustees Loring Bohach and Erfan Kazemi elected Vice-Chairs. Ms. Andersen is the Regional Director of Radio for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation in British Columbia and is a member of Literacy BC’s Board of Directors.
Other returning Board members are City Councillor Elizabeth Ball, Anne Cowan, Shannon Daub, School Board Trustee Clarence Hansen, Parks Board Commissioner Heather Holden, Larry Kuehn and Edward Soorany.
“On behalf of the VPL Board and staff, I would like to thank outgoing Board members John Buckberrough, Crissy George and Tommy Tao for their remarkable leadership and commitment to improving library services for the citizens of Vancouver and welcome our newest members, Loring Bohach, Cynthia Grauer, Lori Mathison and Debbie Millward to the Board,” said Ms. Andersen.
