Acclaimed writer, poet and historian Wayde Compton, who has turned spinning a turntable into sound poetry art, is the Vancouver Public Library’s 2011 Writer in Residence.

Vancouver City Council has voted unanimously to increase Vancouver Public Library funding in order to open the new Terry Salman Branch this Fall.

The City of Vancouver would like to hear from poets interested in becoming the City’s third Poet Laureate. The call for nominations and submissions is open until August 24.

During a time of coming together and reaffirming all that is wonderful about our city, the Library is inviting everyone to share in a moment of fun and beauty at a Bubble Fun Flashmob on Friday, June 24 from noon to 1 p.m.

The Central Library is open as usual. The building sustained minor damage in the events following Wednesday’s final game of the Stanley Cup playoffs.
