Technical Services staff process and provide ready access to these new items before they are added to the collection.
- Acquisitions places orders worldwide for all books, periodicals and media, unpacks and receives them as they arrive, and pays the invoices.
- Cataloguing creates bibliographic records and assigns location numbers in our online catalogue, helping borrowers find items quickly in our collections.
- Preparations readies new arrivals for checkout by adding labels, lamination and special packaging (where needed for fragile items) before releasing them to the shelves.
The three divisions of Technical Services work seamlessly together to deliver new and replacement materials to VPL patrons.
