Art Bank - Central Library (by location)

The Art Bank, founded in 1972, was established to acquire and rent out works of art by contemporary Canadian artists to enable Canadians to see and enjoy contemporary Canadian art. With some 18,000 paintings, prints, photographs and sculptures by over 2500 artists, The Canada Council Art Bank is home to the largest collection of contemporary Canadian art. All are available for rent by corporations, institutions, government departments and agencies at affordable rates.

The Central Library of the Vancouver Public Library houses approximately 79 pieces of contemporary art by 38 Canadian artists. "The Library collection of Art bank works is probably one of the finest modern Canadian art collections in Vancouver, in British Columbia, and maybe even in Western Canada.
