Express Yourself! Annual Teen Bookmark Contest

Design a bookmark and show off your artistic talent and creativity! This year's theme is "Science Fiction." Two grand prize winners – Best Hand-Drawn and Best Computer Generated – will be awarded $250 each and have their bookmarks printed and distributed at all 22 Vancouver Public Library locations across the city. In addition, all entries will be displayed in the Central Library's Moat Gallery from March 1–31, 2012. Vancouver teens 12 to 18 years-old have until November 23, 2011 to submit their entries. The winning bookmarks will be announced in December. |
To enter, download or pick up an entry form at any VPL location. Create your original artwork in the space provided and submit your completed form and design to any Vancouver Public Library location by November 23, 2010.

Rules
How to Enter:
1. Pick up an entry form at any VPL library branch or download a copy here.
2. Design a bookmark with a Science Fiction theme. Entries can be hand-drawn or computer-generated. Create your own original artwork in the space provided or attach a print of your digital artwork at this size (2.25in x 7.25in).
3. Make sure that your artwork fits inside the line. Anything outside the line will not be considered part of your design. If you have an important detail or feature that you want to make sure appears on the bookmark during printing, then keep it 1/4 inch inside of the line.
4. Entries must include the artist's name, contact information, age and school.
5. Hand in your entry form with the finished bookmark design at your local VPL branch by Wednesday, November 23, 2011.
Prizes:
A grand prize of $250 will be awarded in two categories:
- Best hand-drawn bookmark
- Best computer-generated bookmark
All entries will be displayed in the Central Library's Moat Gallery March 1–31, 2012.

Judging Criteria:
VPL’s Teen Advisory Group will select the winners based on the following criteria:
- Best representation of the theme.
- Creativity and originality.
- Artistic Merit.
Fine Print:
- Entrants must be Vancouver residents aged 12-18 years.
- All entries will be displayed in the Central Library's Moat Gallery from March 1–31, 2012.
- All submitted artwork becomes the property of Vancouver Public Library.
