Chinese Communities in the 1891 Census - The Territories - 197 - Alberta

District 197 - Alberta was divided into three sub-districts in the 1891 census:

A - Calgary-Red Deer
B - Edmonton
C - McLeod

Due to the small numbers of Chinese residing in the district in 1891, the entire district is covered by the table below. Only census pages on which individuals born in China were listed have been noted.

The film was not directly reviewed in order to collect this data. Reference was made to birthplace information recorded in the following nominal (name) index:

District of Alberta: Index to the Census of Canada, 1891
Condon, Eileen P., ed.
Ref. 929.37123 D61c

It is possible that persons of Chinese ancestry born in Canada were also recorded in the Alberta District census, but their numbers seem likely to have been very limited, if any at all, given the overall small numbers of Chinese in the district.
