Electronic Equipment Use in the Library
Central Library Branch
The Central Library has electrical outlets on public tables throughout the building. Members of the public may use these electrical outlets for any personal computer or personal audio equipment with earphones brought into the Library providing that noise created does not adversely affect other library users.
The equipment concerned includes the following:
- Laptops and other portable computers
- Audio equipment with earphones
- Other handheld devices including gaming devices
Restrictions may be imposed if the electrical load is too great or if noise is too loud.
Central Library staff are asked to monitor the implementation and impact of this policy and report any problems to the Director, Central Library.
Branch Libraries
Within the guidelines outlined above, Branches, inconsultation with the Director, Neighbourhood & Youth Services will determine specific policies for each Branch based on the availability of electrical outlets and space.
