We welcome gifts, which help to enhance our collections.
What we Accept
Gifts of books, materials, or money for the purchase of books, materials, equipment or facility enhancement are welcome.
Books, DVDs, CDs and magazines should be in good condition and of current interest.
What we do not accept
The Library cannot use mouldy, yellowed or marked material, licensed software programs, audio cassettes or video cassettes.

What happens to materials donated?
The Library reserves the right to decide the disposition of all gifts received. All donated material is reviewed according to the same selection criteria applied to purchased materials. Processing costs and space for housing are considerations.
All gifts become the property of the Vancouver Public Library.
Material that is not needed for the Collection may be sold for the benefit of the Library.
Delivering donated materials
Smaller gifts may be delivered to any VPL branch during regular branch hours (space permitting) or brought to the Central Library's shipping dock between 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Monday to Friday. Materials must be in boxes marked as gifts for the Library.
Donations of large collections of material of substantial value should be discussed in advance with the Acquisitions Division. Contact: 604-331-4033
Acknowledgement
If you would like a letter of acknowledgement of your donation of materials, either for yourself or on behalf of another, please complete a gift form available at any location or online (see below) and include it with your donation.
